Junior Cricket Coaching

Fordhouses Cricket Club Junior section places huge emphasis on engagement and participation. As a club, we strive to ensure that Fordhouses Cricket Club remains an integral part of the local community. To do this, it is of paramount importance for us to provide an inclusive and equitable environment for all children, regardless of their background. Our diverse coaching team, consisting of Staffordshire and Shropshire County coaches, are passionate about delivering inclusive, engaging yet challenging sessions. As a result, you’ll be assured of a friendly welcome to our coaching sessions regardless of whether you are an accomplished player or trying cricket for the first time.

We operate all cricket coaching under ECB Club Mark accreditation and accommodate for players as young as 5 up to 19. In recent years, a number of our junior players have also gone on to represent their District and County at junior level. Most notably, Vikai Kelley (pictured below) graduated from Fordhouses Cricket Club juniors and is currently playing for Warwickshire County Cricket Club.

Player Pathway

A new introduction is our Player Pathway. We are committed to improving the quality of our junior teams and continuing to provide opportunities for players to develop and make the best of their ability. A fundamental review of our pathway for players has now been completed and as a result, changes are being made for next year. The review involved consultation with players, parents, coaches and managers at Fordhouses cricket club; the insight gained has helped shape our vision.

We have planned a way forward that will allow increased progression into district and country representative cricket. In addition, Jem Stack, our Junior Coordinator will oversee all cricket activity for players up to and including Under 19’s. This will help bridge the gap between junior age group and adult cricket, ensuring players are playing at the appropriate level and are able to develop their cricket in a supportive senior environment.

Dynamos Cricket

Dynamos Cricket provides a fantastic next step for all those graduating from All Stars Cricket and the perfect introduction for all 8-11 year-olds new to the sport! Complementing junior cricket, Dynamos provides children with a more social offer focused on developing fundamental movement skills and applying them in an exciting game of countdown cricket. We know how important it is to look like the heroes of the game, so every child who registers will receive their very own Dynamos Cricket New Balance t-shirt, personalised with their name and number.

Sessions begin with a 5-10 minute warm-up to get the children moving and recapping on gross motor skills and basic ball handling. The sessions continue with skill builders for 15 minutes, providing everything children need to play, particularly focusing on bowling, which can be the make-or-break element of any game of cricket! The session finishes with a game of countdown cricket that will take 30-45 minutes and give everyone a chance to participate in all elements of the game – batting, bowling and fielding.

Dynamos Cricket takes place over 8 weeks.  Dates for the new season will be shared here when available.

All Stars Cricket:

All Stars Cricket provides a fantastic first experience for all children aged 5-8 years old where they’re guaranteed 8 weeks of jam-packed fun, activity and skills development. The programme is designed to introduce children to the sport, teaching them new skills, helping them make new friends and have a great time doing so. Every child that registers will receive a backpack full of goodies. Your child’s pack will include:
