Management Changes *UPDATE*

FCC Management Changes Update – Following AGM Announcement

Members/Players/Friends of the Cricket Club may have become aware via word of mouth, social media channels and/or reports given at the Annual General Meeting, that the current staff team management was about to change from 1 April 2022. Colin Thompson had decided that after five years of pure dedication and commitment to Fordhouses, that he wished to step down from the position of General Manager (GM).

However, your Club Officers have disappointingly been forced to amend these proposed management changes as the successful applicant for the GM post, has decided that she no longer wishes to take on this challenging role.

As a result we held an Emergency Meeting to plan a way forward, and have decided at this late stage, not to re-visit the GM recruitment processes. Instead we propose to delegate extra responsibilities to our existing in-house staff, particularly Rob Hatton (Bar Manager). Helen Williams (Hon.Sec and Treasurer) has agreed to provide Rob, on a day-day basis, with both administrative support and technical advice. True to form, Colin has generously offered to carry on, albeit on reduced hours, in the key site coordinating role. We wish to thank Helen and Colin for their on-going loyalty to FCC.

The Club Officers will hold regular reviews to monitor the effectiveness of these changes plus supporting various aspects of FCC’s operations/activities – finance, bar, grounds maintenance, bookings, publicity/marketing, programme and project development.

At the March AGM the Chairman’s Statement included a request to get more positive contributions from within the Club’s membership, such as voluntary work on the ground, initiating fund-raising ventures and specific working parties. That message becomes an increasingly relevant and important issue in this transitional time of change. We must all avoid the scenario of being solely reliant on paid employees/work.

We ask everyone who has a genuine interest in safeguarding our Cricket Club to offer whatever support they can to our staff team.

Kevin, Peter and Mike (Club Officers)
