Vikai putting FCC on the International stage

Fordhouses Cricket Club is currently being represented on the international stage with 1st X1 youngster Vikai Dass joining 1st X1 captain Chris Guest at the Indoor World Cup in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Having played his first game of indoor cricket for Fordhouses CC last winter it has been a rapid rise to the International stage for Vikai. In order to get selected, Vikai played in the Junior National League in England and attended a trial process before being selected to make the plane to NZ. Vikai says “it is an honour to have been selected to represent my country and I have enjoyed the experience so far”. “I’m looking forward to finishing the competition well and continuing to play back home in England”.

Chris has previously represented England at adult level and was approached to coach the U17 team having made a return to indoor cricket last season. Chris is an advocate of indoor cricket saying, “it is a fantastic format of the game that offers either an alternative option to outdoor cricket or equally the ability to develop skills for outdoor”. “The World Indoor Cricket Federation and Action Indoor Cricket England does a fantastic job in offering opportunities for young and old to play high level competition and develop life experiences they will never forget”.

The tournament features teams from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, England and Singapore across 4 age and gender brackets across a week of competition. Games will be live streamed on Indoorcricketnz.org.nz so tune in to see Vikai in action!
