Weekend 22 April – Results round-up

Summary
Last weekend saw the start of the Staffs league season for both our 3rd and 4th XI’s, whilst the 1st XI enjoyed a final warm up game against Derbyshire Academy.

1st X1
Our first team took on Derbyshire Cricket Academy in the final warm up game of the season.  With Club Captain Chris Guest unavailable, Alex McChristie captained the team.
Derbyshire won the toss and elected to bat.
A strong performance with the ball restricted Derbyshire Academy to just 133 off 42 overs. Wickets were shared with David Powles, Jainesh Patel, Haroon Shah and Tendai Chisoro all picking up a couple of wickets each.
Unfortunately FCC struggled to capitalise on the fielding performance and were all out for just 100 in 27 overs.

3rd XI

Our 3rd XI started their Staffs Division 4 campaign at home against Wombourne CC.
We won the toss and elected to field, bowling Wombourne out for 209 in 40 overs. Kathryn Whyle and Connor Bowdler were the star bowling performers with figures of 4 for 44 and 3 for 62 respectively.
Another poor performance with the bat meant that FCC were restricted to just 114 off 31 overs and handed victory to the visitors.

4th XI
Our 4th XI started their Staffs Division 5 season away to Hammerwich and were undoubtedly our team of the week!
We won the toss and elected to bat. Ben Clifton was the star performer with the bat, scoring 80 runs and helping the team reach an excellent 244 for 8 off the 50 allocated overs.
Ben secured his man of the match performance with the ball. He took 5 wickets for just 15 runs, helping FCC bowl out Hammerwich for just 100.
A great to start to the season for the 4th team (and Ben!).
