FCC 1st XI triumph in knock out

Match report by Chris Guest

The league T20 saw us paired against Penkridge following Saturdays exciting tied game.

We lost the toss and were asked to bowl. Sandhu turned up still swinging his arms so he and captain opened the bowling. A tight start was made and Sandhu even got a wicket. Kash came on first change who despite having played for Penkridge got lost on the way to the game. Lewis bowled in tandem and both bowlers picked up wickets to keep the runs down. Adam followed with 1 over from DP – 2 returning overs from Sandhu and Guesty saw them up to 163 which we felt was very chaseable. Some highlights from the fielding were the treacle that seemed to be wherever Sandhu was, Niall and Macca’s inability to throw the ball to the wicket keeper and Macca taking a catch without injuring himself.

Onto the batting and Sandhu and Niall started excellently putting on 80 before Niall ran past one on 49. Sandhu and Macca then blocked out for a while before Powlesy came in and grumpily hit the first ball for 4. Sandhu snicker off…Jem went in and didn’t snuck off but also struggled to even hit the ball. Powlesy happily told him to keep trying – he did and hit a 4 and then smashed one for a one bounce single in the ring to win the game.

A very good team effort and moves us into the next round.
